Our gorgeous drawer on legs..... Our how to!
Firstly, we gave this old draw a really good wipe down and removed all dust and spots.
We gave the draw four legs using used curtain rod ends and glued them with tarzan grip to the bottom of the drawer in the four corners.
Once dry, we did a coat of Fusions Transition Paint as a light base then once dry, did two coats of Fusion Mineral Paint "Casement". We painted the inside with Fusion Mineral Paint "Conservatory" with two coats and allowed everything to completely dry.
If you're not a green person, pick another color that's within one or all of the blooms to ensure that it all complements.
Now to decorate! With the lovely Collage de Fleurs transfer, we chose the blooms we wanted to embellish the draw with both inside and out, and to note, many of the bloom transfers are of a really good size, so we didnt use many at all. You of course, can put on as many as you want! You simple cut out the images you want making sure not to remove the image backing paper! Work out where you want to place the images. Remove the backing paper once you are sure and place the transfer directly onto the surface. Each flower was applied separately so it was easy to secure the transfer with your hand without it moving around. This is important as once you left the transfer paper up, there's no way to really ensure that you can pop it back down again without creating a flaw in the bloom. (We recommend, if the paint is fully cured, using a little tape to adhere the design before removing its backing paper, however you may lift some of the paint if it hasn't fully cured. Fully dried is different to fully cured. Fully dried may be 30 mins onward, however curing takes 21 days.)
Once you have the desired look you want, then use the backing paper that was behind the transfer and gently rub over every image.
To attain an aged appearance, the edges and handle of the drawer, as well as the feet were sanded with a fine grit sandpaper. Make sure if you do this, you don't accidentally scuff the transfers.
We finished off our draw with Fusions Pearl Wax. This gave the whole drawer a hint of pearly sheen. This is applied very easily using a wax brush or a soft clean rag. Towelling works wonderfully!
And Voile! a super pretty mini table to fill with linens, doilies, pretty tea cups, old books or use for your own cuppa beside your arm chair!
NB We had a couple of wooden embellishments that you may see on the front of the drawer.
You will be able to make many different pieces with these transfers or if you'd like use many images to cover a table or create a beautiful piece to hang on the wall,
