This dish with flower frog top is such an old fashioned piece.   Commonly used for short stemmed flowers to create a beautiful compact display.  Often known as rose bowls, the shallow base means that even flowers that don't have long stems, or break can be used and not wasted.  The flower frog lid allows even placement of the flowers.
